Why Should We Discuss The Benefits Of Yoga?

There are many reasons why a person should start practicing yoga. These are the main reasons to discuss the benefits of yoga; relieves stress and pain, promotes better breathing, improves flexibility and blood circulation, increases strength, helps control weight and provides cardiovascular benefits.

A natural relaxation response produced by the body is its most effective defense against stress. Yoga helps to activate this relaxation response through meditation, deep breathing and visualization techniques. Studies prove that people who practice Yoga on a regular basis reduced their stress levels substantially. When your body is in a relaxed state, you will experience feelings of serenity and happiness.

Research indicates that the pain associated with conditions such as arthritis, back and neck pain, hypertension and cancer subsides with regular Yoga sessions. Yoga postures promote the stretching and strengthening of muscles. The solution to long term healing is a strong body. The deep, gentle stretches that Yoga provides bring our bodies into balance. This allows the mind to focus on positive outlooks instead of pain. This ancient practice can be very therapeutic when suffering from a chronic condition.

Breathing exercises are an important part of Yoga, they help to supply oxygen to blood faster and improve lung functions. Blood is able to reach the different body systems quicker providing them with essential nutrients to improve their function within the body. By supplying the cells with correct amounts of oxygen, the organs will function better and the body will be able to rid itself of harmful gasses such as carbon dioxide. A well-oxygenated body prevents the onset of disease, as it cannot survive in such an environment.

Yoga gradually allows our joints to increase their range of motion as we progress in our poses. Muscles, tendons, ligaments and tissue that encompasses muscles become limber allowing you to go deeper into poses. Muscles will lengthen and you will be able to perform stretches that you would have never thought possible. In addition, because Yoga helps to relieve muscle soreness those extended poses will not leave you feeling tired or exhausted, in fact your will feel rejuvenated.

As you advance in your practice, your whole body will become more flexible. Stretching exercises in Yoga help develop balance and harmony within the body. After your workout, you will feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle your day. Your mind and body will be in balance and you will display improved coordination, memory, reaction time and concentration.

You will increase your strength because you use every muscle when you practice Yoga postures. While the postures help to strengthen the body, they also aid in reducing muscular tension. Yoga helps in weight management by toning muscles to fight flab. With proper diet, it will simply proportion your weight and height. It increases the body’s metabolism. The deep breathing exercises increase oxygen intake to the fat cells. When these cells are exposed to oxygen, they burn up.
